The Past is Present
National Geographic partnered with the For Freedoms artist group to document the resilience of communities across the United States. For Freedoms reimagined Norman Rockwell's iconic paintings, representing diverse American identities and sparking conversations on freedom and civic engagement. Their work, displayed nationwide, aims to deepen understanding of America's past and present through the power of art. This is the story showcasing their transformative work in the August 2023 issue of National Geographic magazine. Experience the digital story here.
As a designer for both print and digital, I played a pivotal role in shaping and executing this project. Responsible for bridging the gap between print and digital platforms, I collaborated closely with the team to develop a cohesive narrative strategy that could effectively translate across various mediums. I worked hand-in-hand with multiple photo editors and a developer to devise innovative solutions for showcasing the work seamlessly across both print and digital formats, incorporating both photographs and videos within tight time and resource constraints. I also spearheaded the creation of a versatile design system adaptable to diverse platforms, including social media, to maximize the project's reach and impact.
